SAPS Algoa Park is looking for a kidnapping suspect that allegedly abducted a week-old baby boy.
The mother of the baby, 33-year-old Noncedo Jali, gave birth to her baby boy on November 22 at Dora Nginza Hospital and was discharged from hospital on November 27.
According to police spokesperson, Capt. André Beetge, an unknown woman allegedly posing as someone sent by the mother's family to assist, went with Jali to Kenako Mall to withdraw money to buy clothing for the newborn.
"In the busy mall the suspect evaded the mother with the newborn baby. The baby was only four days old at the time," Beetge said.
An identikit of the suspect has been compiled. Any person that can assist police in identifying the person in the image or know her whereabouts can contact the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit's Detective Sergeant Sizile Sindi on 082 303 0249 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
