SAPS Bethelsdorp detectives are seeking the community's assistance in tracing the next-of-kin and identifying the body of an unknown person found burnt in Extension 36 during the early hours of yesterday morning, September 26.

It is alleged that on the mentioned date at approximately 03:00, police responded to a complaint at Landon and Wellman Street, where community members pointed out the body.

Police spokesperson, Capt. Sandra Janse van Rensburg, said that police found the deceased burnt beyond recognition.

"The circumstances and motive surrounding the death are unknown. A case of murder is under investigation," Janse van Rensburg said. 

Anyone that can assist in tracing the family of the person, may be able to identify the deceased or can furnish any information relating to his death, is asked to contact D/Sgt. Thembinkosi Cacadu on 082 442 1633 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111. They can also visit the nearest police station or send information via the MYSAPSAPP. All information received will be treated as confidential and callers may opt to remain anonymous.
