UPDATE:

Police are now investigating a case of murder following the death of the 65-year-old woman who died when her flat went up in fire yesterday morning, September 13.

The woman's partially burnt body was found in the bedroom of her burning flat in Fernkloof in Park Drive. Police spokesperson, Col. Priscilla Naidu, said that the investigation initially started as an inquest, however, evidence collected at the scene of the fire suggested that there could be foul play.

She added that yesterday afternoon, police recovered a white Ford Fiesta vehicle belonging to the deceased. "The vehicle was found abandoned in Victoria Drive. The woman cannot be named until her next-of-kin can be traced. According to sources, she has a son in Gqeberha, therefore police need to urgently locate him," Naidu explained.

Anyone who can assist with the investigation is asked to contact D/Const. Ridwaan Baatjies on 073 130 3018 or SAPS Humewood on 041 504 5019. They can also visit the nearest police station. All information is confidential and callers may remain anonymous. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
