Just hours after being reported missing, the body of Cameron Naidoo (23) was discovered near his Pelican Park home on Friday 1 March.

Grassy Park Police spokesperson Captain Wynita Kleinsmith confirmed a suspect has been arrested.

“A suspect has appeared in court on charges of robbery and murder,” she said.

“He has confessed to the murder and asked for legal aid.

“He is expected back in court on Tuesday 19 March for a bail application.”

On Friday 1 March, family and friends asked for help in finding the young man who went missing around 17:30 in Pelican Park.

Minutes later, family announced on Facebook that Naidoo’s body had sadly been found.

His aunt Loadine George (40) described him a very social person with a big heart.

“Cameron was a very special person and closely connected to the community, and he was special.

“He had a big heart for community and his personality shone through his eyes and smile.”

Naidoo - who was on the autism spectrum - was meant to start a new job last week, she added.

“He was classed as ASD level 3 (Autism Spectrum Disorder) and he studied vocational studies. Cameron was well loved so we had a memorial service for him in Pelican Park on Friday and a final goodbye on Saturday.”

Commenting on the arrest of a suspect, George said they leave it in the hands of the law.

“For us, Cameron’s death is a catalyst for change. Justice will be served.”
