It is that time of the year again when the Seeberg, Mooimaak and Postberg areas of the West Coast National Park (WCNP) put on their coats of many colours.
Although there was a substantial decrease in rainfall during the winter season, resulting in a later than usual start to the season, the flowers are now in full bloom.
Patricia Bopape, WCNP park manager, says this year’s display of flowers is nothing short of spectacular.
“During the August and September months, visitors to the park will see a wide variety of flowers on display,” says Bopape.
Visitors are advised to select sunny days to visit the park and, if possible, to plan their visit on a weekday.
“Weekends are often very busy with queues developing at the gate and congestion in the flower viewing areas,” says Bopape.
The gate times for Postberg are from 09:00 to 17:00 with last entry at 16:30. Gates at the general park area open at 07:00 and close at 18:30 with last entry at 18:30.
The conservation entry fee for an adult (with a South African ID) is R100 and R50 for a child (younger than 12).
Adults and children (with passport) from Southern African Development Community (SADC) countries pay R150 per adult and R75 per child, respectively.
The entry fee for international visitors is R220 for an adult and R110 for a child.
The Geelbek Restaurant will be open for lunch during this time.
