Wetton-based author, Kariema Taliep Davids, will launch her fifth self-published book - Paw Prints in Muzaffar’s Heart - later this month.
Besides her novel, A Passionate Love, the new book is her fourth children’s offering and will be the start of a series dedicated to her three-year-old grandson, Muzaffar.
It follows a three-book series dedicated to her older grandchild, his sister Haniyah.
“Since he was very attached to the house cat for the little time he spent with her, this inspired me to write about grieving and how to deal with the loss of a pet. The theme of the story is coping, comforting and overcoming sadness and loss.
The story is about the cat who died due to old age and it was difficult for Muzaffar to understand that death is permanent,” she says.
She started writing the book in February and it took around two months to complete.
As a self-published author, financial constraints delayed the release of the book until now.
The book will be officially launched on Saturday 26 August at Academia Library in Lansdowne.
The launch starts at 10:00 and the book is targeted at children aged three to nine. Her other children’s books, Haniyah and the Pink Rabbit, Haniyah Goes to School and Haniyah Discovers Diversity will also be available to purchase at R150 each.
Last year, Taliep Davids also released her first novel which retails at R250.
