Learners from Beijing No.20 High School in the People’s Republic of China visited Bosmansdam High School in Bothasig last week.

Last week Bosmansdam High School in Bothasig hosted and entertained 72 students from Beijing No.20 High School, situated in the capital of the People’s Republic of China.

Prior to the arrival of the Beijing learners, 72 Bosmansdam High School learners were nominated to enlighten the Beijing students on the diversity of the school.

The Beijing learners were guided around the school building to see the various facilities at the school. Once they were acquainted with the school-building, both schools had the opportunity of presenting information about their respective schools. After the introductions, it was time for the fun to begin. The Connect Academy Gym (partners of Bosmansdam High School), had set up several different rugby activities on the school field.

Before the farewell speeches, the learners from each school participated in a gift-exchange whereby souvenirs and sweet treats from each country, city and school were exchanged.

The principal of Beijing No.20 High School, Qi Ying Feng, gifted Bosmansdam High School’s principal, Gert van Tonder, with a superb, culturally significant vase. Van Tonder gifted Qi Ying Feng with an original Bosmansdam Knights rugby shirt, as well as a bottle of wine that included Bosmansdam’s 50-year anniversary signature.

The visit took place on Wednesday 31 January.
