The New Apostolic Church (NAC) is a community that spans the globe, with membership in over six continents.
The New Apostolic Church in Kariega had a humble beginning when there was only one person, Sister O’Brien, who attended the first church service.
Thereafter the word spread rapidly and the first congregation, known as the Taylor Street congregation, was formed. As more people joined the fellowship, new house congregations were established in Gerald Smith, Thomas Gamble and Rosedale.
As the fellowship community grew, the leadership at the time of the NAC recognised the need to accommodate the ever-growing congregations and began with plans to build a church building to accommodate all the members.
The turning of sod ceremony was conducted by Bishop Fester and the building operation commenced in 1982. It was with great excitement that the New Apostolic Church-Rosedale congregation was completed in November 1982 and was dedicated on February 27, 1983.
Over the last forty years, numerous weddings, baptisms, adoptions, ordinations, confirmations, and anniversaries were celebrated.
Music in the form of singing and orchestras form an integral part of this church community. Choral music is performed by a broad spectrum of participants, ranging from children and youth choirs to male and seniors’ choirs. Ensembles with sophisticated pieces of music are often formed beyond the congregational level and these include, for example, chamber choirs and symphony orchestras.
As part of the celebrations a music choral will take place on Saturday afternoon November 11 at Rosedale Congregation, Mossie Road, at 16:00. Entrance is free.
