A week or so ago we woke up to very dirty streets all around the Virginia Municipality offices area. The sight was disturbing.
My attention was drawn to the condition of the human heart. There is so much trash that gets dumped there. Without knowing better, all difficult situations lead to despair, resulting in taking decisions aimed at bringing a solution. An easy example is substance abuse initiated by a temporal problem, that could have been handled better had one sought the intervention of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ.
I like to say, “don’t create a permanent problem out of a temporal situation”. Despair means to lose hope. It is derived from Latin’s desperare, meaning “to be without hope”. I believe we can do better.
In 2 Kings 4 we read about the Shunamite woman’s ordeal. Her only son passed away after an illness. Not having a son was a social stigma. Because of her faith, her son is brought back to life. This miracle proved that the wicked leaders of the nation could not restrain the Lord’s gracious hand.
Put your hope in God. If He could raise the dead, what could be more difficult for Him?
May we continue in hope.)Grace Mufara is overseer of the Covenant Apostolic Church, Virginia.
