There’s a school of thought that the quickest way to extinguish your love of something is to turn it into a job.

When people find out that I work for a travel magazine, their reaction usually goes something like this: “You’ve got the best job in the world! You’re always on holiday!”

The truth is, yes, of course it’s a great job. And no, it’s a job, not a paid-for holiday.
