Lizette Rabe asks how should journalism react to "quo vadis" in this perfect storm of crime, conflict, corruption, global megalomaniacs, and yes, elections, that will send fake news into a whole new orbit?

It is already a cliché, even though the year has barely begun: 2024 is going to be a watershed year. It is not only any election year. It is the election year, as Time reports.

Elections will be held in about 64 countries, with 49% of the world's population involved.
