When the statistics are considered alongside anecdotal evidence, a picture emerges of eligible voters who are too discouraged to vote; just like job seekers, who are too discouraged to keep looking, writes Mpumelelo Mkhabela. 

A combination of three sets of statistics makes South Africa ripe for political instability and most likely complete chaos.

The first is the total unemployment rate - which, according to Stats SA, stands at 44.4 percent. This is the number of people who are tired of looking for a job they have given up. This number is the most important one to consider when you are concerned about the country's political stability. I'll explain further below.
