In circumstances where judges have found themselves personally targeted by the often very powerful people they rule against, the JSC has done little to nothing to publicly support or protect them from spurious and unsubstantiated attacks, writes Karyn Maughan.
This week's Judicial Service Commission interviews have sent a clear message to South Africa's judges: presiding over politically sensitive cases - or matters involving influential people - can be profoundly career-inhibiting.
And we should all be apprehensive about that.
