The psychological impact of violence can linger.

Violence begets violence and we need to change the cycle by finding other ways of coping with our anger, anxiety, and shame. Dr Lou-Marié Kruger, a clinical psychologist and professor at Stellenbosch University, discusses the psychological impact of violence on us and our response to it with Muhummad Hussain.

South Africa is a violent country. The stats will tell us that, the politicians will too. The academics and the various studies confirm what people in the country already know.

Almost every day we are exposed to violence, specifically violence against women and children - whether this is within our own lives, or the lives of those around us or in the communities we live in.
