When it comes to the new year, many of us find ourselves a bit strapped for cash after a buzzing festive season. The one thing you don’t want to have to second guess is how you can have filling, tasty, and downright lekker meals while managing your Januworry savings.

Here are three ways to quell your hanger while on a budget:

Buy groceries that are versatile

Being budget-wise with your meals starts with what you toss in your shopping cart. Choose grocery options that are versatile, like mushrooms, potatoes, spinach, or bananas - these can be prepared in a range of ways with a few other ingredients to pair with them. This will help you in shopping smart and thinking ahead while on a budget.

Meal prep for your week ahead

Once you have stocked up on your grocery essentials, prep your weekly meals in advance. Meal prepping helps stop those quick mid-week trips to shops to buy more, plus it’s an excellent time saver. Prep two or three main meal options on a Sunday night that you can freeze and alternate with during the week. For breakfast, keeping some cereal or yoghurt and fresh fruit is a tasty, easy, budget-friendly, and refreshing option to have stocked in the fridge and pantry.

Treat yourself while staying wallet wise

Just because you’re looking to save, doesn’t mean you can’t indulge in some of your favourite takeout options too. Many companies like BURGER KING® South Africa have come out with value meal options to help you save big while still enjoying their signature flavour.

The Mystery Burger box is BURGER KING® South Africa’s latest initiative looking to help burger fans enjoy their delicious taste even on a budget. Retailing at just R29.90 this incredible initiative is not just for the January blues but is running until the end of February 2021.

Each Mystery Burger Box randomly contains one of eight delicious premium Burger King Burgers, including The Double Whopper, Big King® XXL, and Rodeo King to name a few. All you have to do is walk into any BURGER KING® South Africa restaurant and order a Mystery Burger Box for only R29.90 and see which surprise lies in store for you.

Now you can kick the Januworry blues away one tasty bite at a time this year.
