Ring is a company on a mission to make neighborhoods safer. Last month Ring announced that their affordable, easy-to-install security system, Ring Alarm (2nd Generation), is launching in South Africa. Ring Alarm is a sleek, customisable DIY home security system that offers affordable, commitment-free home security where it's needed most. It keeps you connected to your property whether you are at home or away.
Like Ring Video Doorbells and Ring Security Cameras, Ring Alarm works as a stand-alone product for anyone looking to add an alarm system to their home. Ring Alarm is set up easily via the Ring App and does not require professional installation or a long-term contract.

You can also integrate Ring Alarm with Ring Video Doorbells and Security Cameras. This means that if an alarm sounds, all cameras are automatically triggered to begin recording (when subscribed to Ring Protect). Ring Alarm also works with select Alexa-enabled devices allowing users to arm, disarm and check the status of their alarm with simple voice commands.
To set up the Ring Alarm, simply use the Ring App to connect the base station; install the compact sensors to the door or window of choice and position the motion detector. The Ring Alarm keypad allows users to sound the alarm and use the “mode” buttons to set their alarm to either ‘disarmed’, ‘home’, or ‘away’ mode. If you have Ring Protect Plus you can also activate Assisted Monitoring. This notifies three preset contacts if there is a medical emergency or fire.
Jamie Siminoff, Chief Inventor and Founder of Ring, said: “We’re excited to bring this smart, DIY security system to our customers in South Africa. The Ring Alarm provides an easy-to-use, comprehensive security solution that can be customized to each home’s needs.”
