DA leader John Steenhuisen says he sometimes misses former party leader Mmusi Maimane on a personal level, but believes there was a "rush to find a leader that looked a certain way" and that Maimane was too inexperienced to lead the DA.
Speaking on News24's Q&A elections podcast, Steenhuisen looked back at the DA's disastrous 2019 election performance, and reflected on how Maimane's leadership affected the party.
"There are days that I miss Mmusi. We were very close. I was his chief whip. There are days I miss him on a personal level.
