In debt? What car do you drive? Ministers, deputy ministers slapped with lifestyle audits

If any of President Cyril Ramaphosa's Cabinet members are knee-deep in debt, or their dependents are enrolled at the most expensive schools in the country, the Presidency wants to know as it finally embarks on lifestyle audits.

The Presidency, through a document seen by News24, is asking Ramaphosa's executive to bare it all, more than six years since he promised in his 2018 State of the Nation Address (SONA) that he would introduce lifestyle audits for ministers and deputy ministers.

In addition to the usual identity documents, Cabinet members have been asked to submit their bank account details as well as information about credit cards and other credit facilities they may have.
