The Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse (OUTA) wants the General Intelligence Laws Amendment Bill (GILAB) redrafted.
They added their voice to the chorus of concern from civil society about how the bill would allow state security to encroach on civil liberties.
The written submissions on the bill had to reach the ad hoc committee processing the bill last week Thursday. The committee has also been conducting public hearings across the country – so far in Limpopo, Gauteng, the Western Cape and KwaZulu-Natal, and this past weekend in Mpumalanga.
