A case of gender-based violence (GBV) at a university residence in Cape Town led to a bold call for all perpetrators to be suspended from continuing their studies.
The call came from UWC's Student Representative Council (SRC) at a time when the country was approaching the annual 16 Days of Activism Campaign, held from 25 November to 10 December.
It follows a stabbing incident involving a Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) student, who was allegedly stabbed multiple times by her husband, who is a student at the University of the Western Cape (UWC).
