With the finalisation of the Ekurhuleni mayoral committee comes the takeover by the ANC of the Gauteng municipality from the EFF.

This is the unofficial word from four senior councillors News24 spoke to, who are members of the ANC, EFF and the so-called Super Seven minority party coalition, after new ANC mayor Nkosindiphile Xhakaza named his committee on Monday.

All EFF members of the mayoral committee (MMCs) who served under former African Independent Congress (AIC) mayor Sivuyile Ngodwana have retained their positions. The only change to the list was an additional member – the EFF's Kgopelo Hollo, who was appointed to the human settlements portfolio from the Department of Real Estate.
