A man who was robbed and assaulted in Winterveld, Pretoria, suspects the young men who attacked him are part of a criminal syndicate targeting victims in the area.

The man, who asked not to be identified, told News24 he almost suffered the same fate as Pretoria Rugby Club's former chairperson, Jaco Basson, and Johan Pieterse, who were murdered and robbed, respectively, in the same area last month.

Pieterse was robbed of R34 000.
