The lives of many frontline healthcare workers dealing with Covid-19 are at risk because many pieces of personal protective equipment (PPE) fail to meet national quality control standards, a subcommittee of the Ministerial Advisory Committee (MAC) has warned.
And while many of these sub-standard PPE, which fell short of standards set by the South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) were prevented from distribution, many have apparently found their way to the frontline.
