- They also forced her male friend to have sex with her and made him watch while they raped her.
- During the ordeal, they also made the girl assault her friend.
Two Limpopo men who tortured, raped and assaulted two teenage friends have been handed multiple life sentences.
Thabang Joel Makgopa, 32, and Arone Makhubele, 34, were found guilty and sentenced to a combined four life sentences and 39 years imprisonment for their crimes.
The Lenyenye Regional Court heard that on 25 March 2017 at about 17:00, two 17-year-olds, a boy and girl, were attacked by the accused while walking down the street in a village near Tzaneen.
They robbed the boy of his cellphone and forcibly took both teens to a local sports ground.
Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba on Wednesday said:
He said police had investigated cases of rape, compelled rape, robbery, and assault.
The case was given to Sergeant Glenda Mathebula of the Tzaneen Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit, and she was able to locate a witness who assisted in identifying the accused.
The two men were arrested and Makhubele was linked to the rape through DNA.
