The Sol Plaatje Municipality in Kimberley is facing an interdict application and a parallel criminal case instituted by the Department of Water and Sanitation for failing to tackle "contaminated" water at Kamfers Dam.

The municipality is being blamed for depositing untreated volumes of wastewater into the dam.

Making matters worse, the local government authority also faces two civil lawsuits brought by landowners who have the same gripe.
