SA will have the animal vaccines it needs soon, says Onderstepoort, as farmers fear for biosecurity

The supply of animal vaccines is expected to be fully restored before the start of the vaccination season next month.

Despite coming under harsh criticism in recent months over an apparent vaccine shortage, the state-run Onderstepoort Biological Products (OBP) facility said it was ready for vaccination season, which takes place between June and October. 

During a media briefing on Thursday, OBP said that, based on figures supplied by the government, there had been around 170 reports of disease during 2022.
