Saturday's weather: Most of SA will be partly cloudy, with heatwave expected in 3 provinces

Multiple provinces across the country will be partly cloudy with fine and warm temperatures, but at least three are set for a heatwave, according to the South African Weather Service.

Fire danger warnings

Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over the central and eastern parts of the Northern Cape, the south-western parts of the North West, in places over the Free State and northern interior of the Eastern Cape.

A heatwave with persistently high temperatures is expected in places over the Free State and North West as well as the central and eastern parts of the Northern Cape until, and including, Monday.

Gauteng will be partly cloudy in the morning. Otherwise, fine, and warm to hot temperatures are expected.

The expected UVB sunburn index is high.

Morning fog patches are forecast in Mpumalanga along the escarpment and the Highveld. Otherwise, partly cloudy, and warm conditions are forecast.

Limpopo can expect morning fog patches along the escarpment. Otherwise, it will be partly cloudy with warm to hot temperatures.

Fine and hot to very hot conditions are forecast for the North West, becoming partly cloudy in the west in the afternoon.

The Free State will be fine with hot to very hot temperatures, becoming partly cloudy in the extreme north in the afternoon.

Fine and hot to very hot weather is expected in the Northern Cape, becoming partly cloudy over the northern parts with isolated afternoon thundershowers in the extreme north-west.

The wind along the coast will be a light to moderate south-easterly, becoming fresh from late afternoon.

The Western Cape will be cloudy to partly cloudy along the coast with isolated showers and rain along the south and south-west coast.

Otherwise, fine, and cool to warm temperatures are forecast.

The wind along the coast will be a light to moderate northerly to north-westerly, becoming a fresh to strong southerly to south-easterly from the late afternoon.

The expected UVB sunburn index is high.

Partly cloudy and cool conditions are expected in the western half of the Eastern Cape in places along the coast.

Otherwise, it will be fine with warm to hot temperatures.

It will become cloudy and windy with isolated showers and rain in the south from late afternoon.

The wind along the coast will be a fresh to strong south-westerly, becoming a moderate to fresh south-easterly in the evening.

The eastern half of the province will be partly cloudy in places along the coast.

Otherwise, fine, and warm to hot but windy conditions are forecast in the north.

It will become cloudy with light rain and drizzle in places south of the escarpment in the evening.

The wind along the coast will be a moderate to fresh north-easterly north of Mazeppa Bay in the early morning, otherwise a fresh to strong south-westerly is expected.

KwaZulu-Natal can expect fine and warm, but hot temperatures in places in the north, becoming partly cloudy to cloudy in the east in the afternoon with isolated showers and rain along the coast.

The wind along the coast will be a moderate to fresh easterly to north-easterly, becoming a moderate to fresh south-westerly from the south in the morning, spreading northwards.

The expected UVB sunburn index is extreme.
