A Sea Point man lost his claim for R250 000 in damages against a woman who defamed him by calling him a "nob" and a "misogynist", and insinuating that he was behind the torching of the car of a man feeding the homeless during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Paul Jacobson, a Freedom Front councillor in the City of Cape Town. was given a tongue lashing by a Western Cape High Court judge, who found that he had committed hate speech in other social media comments.
Jacobson took Shelley Ann Finch to court over the drama, which began with an argument on Facebook about Mouille Point resident Peter Wagenaar giving food to homeless people during the hard lockdown in 2020, dispensing it from the back of his car.
