Tuesday brought eThekwini metro residents more service delivery woes when workers attached to the extended public works programme (EPWP) downed tools and staged a picket outside Durban City Hall, calling for higher salaries and permanent absorption into the municipality.
The EPWP is a national government initiative aimed at providing temporary work opportunities for unemployed citizens.
It covers all spheres of government and state-owned enterprises, with its sustenance wholly dependent on funding from National Treasury.
