Thursday's weather: Morning fog and a chance of rain in at least three regions

The South African Weather Service predicted morning fog patches along the coast and over the interior of the Northern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal, with morning drizzle expected along the escarpment in Limpopo.

The rest of the country can expect partly cloudy to warm temperatures, with scattered rain and thunderstorms.

Partly cloudy and warm conditions, with scattered showers and thundershowers, but isolated in the north, are expected in Gauteng.

Mpumalanga will be partly cloudy and warm, with isolated showers and thundershowers, except in the eastern Lowveld, but scattered over the southern Highveld.

Morning drizzle along the escarpment can be expected in Limpopo, otherwise it will be partly cloudy and warm, with isolated showers and thundershowers over the western Bushveld and extreme southern regions.

The North West can expect partly cloudy and warm temperatures, with scattered showers and thundershowers, but isolated in the north-east.

It will be partly cloudy and cool to warm in the Free State, with isolated showers and thundershowers, but scattered in the east.

Morning fog patches are expected along the coast of the Northern Cape, otherwise it will be fine and warm to hot, but partly cloudy over the central and eastern parts, with isolated showers and thundershowers in the north-east.

The wind along the coast will be a light to moderate southerly to south-easterly, becoming moderate to fresh from the afternoon.

The Western Cape is expected to be fine in the west, otherwise partly cloudy and cool to warm, but cloudy along the south coast and adjacent interior, with isolated showers and rain.

The wind along the coast will be a fresh to strong south-easterly, but light to moderate along the south coast.

The expected UVB sunburn index is very high.

Partly cloudy and warm temperatures are expected in the western half of the Eastern Cape, but it will be cloudy and cool in the south, with light rain in places.

The wind along the coast will be a light to moderate easterly, becoming south-easterly in the afternoon.

The eastern half of the province will be cloudy and cool, with isolated showers and thundershowers, but partly cloudy and warm in the north-west.

The wind along the coast will be a light to moderate westerly, becoming south-westerly in the afternoon.

KwaZulu-Natal can expect morning fog patches over the interior, otherwise it will be cool to warm, with scattered showers and thundershowers, but isolated in the north-east.

The wind along the coast will be a light to moderate northerly to north-easterly, becoming fresh to strong in places in the north, otherwise a moderate to fresh south-westerly.

The expected UVB sunburn index is moderate.
