Trouble continues to besiege the City of Cape Town's Department of Urban Waste as uncollected rubbish and rubble pile up in informal settlements. 

Earlier this week, reports emerged of unrest in Khayelitsha due to rubbish and rubble not being collected by contractors. 

The ANC's caucus leader in the metro, Banele Majingo, said the recent service delivery protests about waste collection against a particular contractor in Khayelitsha was an indication that there weren't strong monitoring strategies between the City and the contractors it employed in the informal settlements.
