As the holiday season approaches, South African shoppers are eagerly anticipating the biggest shopping event of the year - Black Friday.

This year, several retailers have jumped the gun and announced their early Black Friday sales, giving tech enthusiasts early access to the latest gadgets and electronics.

Here's a look at what some of the biggest retailers in the country are offering:

Game

Game's Black Friday deals came in full swing from the beginning of November.

The retailer has announced specials that will be valid in different rounds, with its first round having begun on 1 November – 7 November. Other specials will be valid on the following dates: 8 November – 14 November, 15 November – 21 November, and 22 November – 28 November.

The retailer has various tech items on offer, including Skyworth smart TVs, portable power stations, gaming consoles, headphones and more.

Makro

Makro has put its Black Friday catalogue on full display.

Makro's Black Friday promotion also includes discounts on gaming consoles, smart televisions, home appliances – like fridges, washing machines, dishwashers and more – and smart phones and many others items.

Massmart's VP of Marketing, Katherine Madley, revealed that their deals are across the board.

"This week's Black Friday deals are jam-packed with fantastic discounts on a wide range of products. From smartphones to TVs, small and large appliances, nappies and outdoor essentials – it's a shopper's paradise!"

According to the retailer, the best sellers recorded by Makro last week included TVs, fridges, air fryers and soft drinks, reflecting the diverse shopping preferences catered to by Makro.

HiFi Corp

Known for its electronics and wide tech offering, HiFi Corporation also joined other retailers by giving customers huge sales on electronics.

Some of its sales include a Samsung Sound bar that went from R13 999 to R7 999, a Defy chest freezer from R5 299 and a Hisense fridge that will save customers R1 500, among other deals.

Incredible Connection

Incredible Connection is pulling out all the stops this year, offering an Apple MacBook Air for R16 999, from R19 999, a Samsung Galaxy S21FE 5G Dual Sim now selling for R10 999, from R14 999.

For gamers, the retailer is offering ASUS ROG Ally Z1 Extreme - Handheld Console for R12 999, from 15 999.

Other Black Friday deals include substantial discounts on smartphones from top brands - like Samsung, Apple and Huawei.

Customers can also get the latest wireless earbuds, smart speakers and even drones.

Hirsch's

Hirsch's, known for its wide selection of home appliances and electronics, has joined the early Black Friday frenzy with a lineup of deals, offering discounts on various tech gadgets, including smart home devices, including washing machines, robot vacuum cleaners, smart inverter air-conditioners, and an air fryer.

Their discounted kitchen appliances are worth noting, with reductions on top-quality brands, including Smeg, Defy, Philips and more.
