When it comes to the second-hand luxury market, Johannesburg has reaffirmed its status as a lover of more showy and loud luxury brands, while Capetonians prioritise luxury brands that offer a return on investment, and time pieces that trade at high discount prices.

This is according to Michael Zahariev - co-founder of Luxity, South Africa's largest online store for pre-owned luxury goods - who delved deeper into the preferences of the elite in these two cities.

Zahariev revealed that Capetonians appear to be making investment choices when it comes to their pre-owned luxury purchases, going for brands such as Chanel and Cartier.
