The September floods displaced the residents of Stanford in the Western Cape's Overstrand Local Municipality, damaged their homes and left others without a means to make a living.

To lift the town people's mood and boost the economy by attracting tourists, Checkers recently installed more than 70 000 festive lights along the town's main road.
