The ANC's legacy and electoral future will revolve around two tangible crises: AIDS and our record unemployment figures for both of which Mbeki's role stands oddly under-analysed, writes Siya Khumalo.

In 2018, the late Professor Belinda Bozzoli wrote something profoundly obvious and obviously profound. It explains why the post-Zuma ANC can't address today's ballooning jobs crisis:

For example, a school governing body may get corrupted by vicious bargaining and deal-making by local strongmen seeking access to tenders. Once they win, the school's role as an education service provider becomes secondary to its role as their source of income — it goes from being "a house of learning" to "a den of robbers".
