Kaizer Chiefs are taking proactive steps to ensure the stability of their squad by securing the services of key players for the foreseeable future, the Siya crew understands.

Among the latest moves is the intended extension of right-back Reeve Frosler's contract, which has been extended for an additional three years beyond its current expiration at the end of next season in June 2025.

Siya sources have indicated that Amakhosi have prioritised retaining Frosler, who has previously attracted interest from European clubs.

"The new deal is expected to kick in at the end if next season but they had to deal with it as soon as possible because he will soon turn into a free agent. From December, he will have remaining just six months and anything is possible so they didn't want to take that risk hence the offer for a new three-year deal. It could not be fully done yet but it's on the table already," the Siya source stated.

The strategic decision to extend Frosler's contract is part of a broader vision to maintain a strong defensive lineup, according to a second Siya source.

"You know the main right back, it's him (Frosler) and then Dillon Solomons and they will all be in the team for the next two seasons or so. Solomons' contract runs until June 2026 so if Frosler's one runs until June 2028 then they can bring in the young players from their development gradually during the next period. That's why they are willing to keep Frosler for another three years from next year," the Siya source discussed the club's long-term planning.

Frosler's journey with Chiefs began in July 2019 with a contract running until June 2022, which he then extended for another three years until June 2025.

If this latest extension is confirmed, then his commitment to the club is set to continue until June 2028. Throughout the current season, the 26-year-old former Bidvest Wits defender has made 21 DStv Premiership appearances and provided one assist, showcasing his importance to the team's defensive structure.

Despite attempts to get a comment from Chiefs, no response was received at the time of preparing this story.

This reported contract extension underscores Chiefs' intent to build a strong team for the future, emphasizing continuity and experience in their squad composition as they aim for success in the coming seasons.
