Despite having failed in their attempt to land Tshegofatso Mabasa at the start of the season, Mamelodi Sundowns have rekindled their interest in the Orlando Pirates striker, the Siya Crew has learnt.

Mabasa was linked with Masandawana in the last transfer window, after spending the first half of the campaign on loan with Moroka Swallows. The Birds’ financial woes impacted the player, who was set to return to his parent club, but Sundowns expressed their interest, when they were going through a striking crisis at the time.

The Brazilians also lined up Percy Tau, Khanyisa Mayo, Fagrie Lakay and Lars Veldwijk as possible options, but it is understood that they were not willing to meet Pirates’ evaluation of the player.
