While a huge thunderstorm that enveloped Ellis Park threatened to stifle their momentum, the Lions resuscitated their push for a URC play-off spot with a well-deserved 40-10 victory over an outgunned Sharks combination on Saturday.

Home loosehead JP Smith earlier in the week emphasised how he and his team-mates needed to "revert back to the basics" because a substandard few weeks, results-wise, brought with it the risk of severe doubts creeping in.
