PARIS. - When SA Rugby director of rugby Johan ‘Rassie’ Erasmus was confirmed as the Springboks’ 14th coach on 1 March 2018, there were plenty of consternation, concerns and complaints.

One of them was the length of his tenure, a six-year contract, which was the most contentious part of his employment as previous coaches were rotated on World Cup cycles.
