On 5 May 2024, the family of Mpho Sebeng announced his untimely death.
The 31-year-old actor’s untimely passing followed a tragic car accident.
“Mpho met his untimely death in the early hours of Sunday, May 5, 2024, due to a tragic car accident in Potchefstroom,” the family statement reads.
The family also shared that details of Mpho’s final send-off will be communicated soon and, in the meantime, they ask for space to grieve the news.
Mpho’s career has seen decorated film and television credits including Netflix’s Savage Beauty and Miseducation as well as Mzansi Magic’s The Queen and Ring of Lies.
Colleagues in the industry and fans have shared their shock and sadness of the sudden passing of the actor.
The South African government posted a tributed on its X profile, saying, “Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and fans. Our nation mourns the loss of a bright star.”
A Showmax post reads, “An incredible legacy left behind. An undeniable talent. Rest in peace, Mpho Sebeng. While Netflix South Africa writes, “A life well lived. Rest in peace, Mpho Sebeng.”
