Cheat's Guide to Instant Beauty

accreditation
None of us really has time to keep up with a demanding beauty routine. So, before you land up looking like you've risen from the dead, get some quick tips here!

Fake nails
Okay, we know they can look unbelievably tacky. And they fall off at the most inappropriate times. But if you're looking for instant, healthy-looking nails these are your best bet. Just get them done professionally so you don't look like you're trying too hard.

Make-up
Praise be to make-up! If you've had a hard night partying, nothing gets rid of those under-eye bags faster than concealer. Pimple popped up overnight? Try a Spot-On Roll-On instead of toothpaste. It's easy to apply and, if you find one with a pen-like packaging, you can target the sucker before it gets out of control. If your skin's flakey or you have large pores, just swathe on some liquid foundation  for smooth skin.

Nappy hair?
There's a reason why ghd has become so popular. Slip the hot iron down your strands and have shimmering, straight locks in fifteen minutes. Don't forget to snip off your split ends to prevent fluffy ends. If all else fails, a ponytail or bun can look sexy and hide your horrendous hair day.

Tried and tested
As boring as it sounds, water can keep you looking fresh: drink more of it and wash your face every evening. Every schleb we've spoken to, from Jo-Anne Strauss and Louise Carver to Michelle McLean, include drinking plenty of water as a top beauty tip. Plus, it's known to lessen the hang-overs  you'll probably be waking up with on New Years.

Vampire-like pallor?
Has it been so long since your legs have seen the sun that they're virtually see-through? Blame it on the office hours. Instant bronzer can do wonders for your complexion, provided you select the right tone for a Eva Longoria-eque golden shimmer. Or you could do the whole "goth" make-up look: white face with dark lips and eyes. We hear it's hot right now.
