Natalie Becker
Occupation: actress, television presenter, speaker, writer
Location: Cape Town

One of the first questions I tend to ask people in regards to their beauty goodies is, "What's the one thing you'd simply DIE without? For example, if it were to be discontinued, you'd immediately have to fight the urge to throw yourself off De Waal drive..." (A lot of the time I'm told its hair straighteners...) According to Natalie, however, she loves her glamour just like any other girl, but isn't so tied to one particular item that she feels she could not live without it. "I find that when something's discontinued, it's always a great opportunity to explore alternatives," she says. "Sometimes, it gets you out of a rut or a comfort zone." Very good advice.

Still, a quick scrounge around her make-up reveals some of her current cosmetic darlings, specifically cult 'cover stick' YSL Touche Eclat concealer in number 3, MAC Studio Fix powder foundation in C40 and Chanel Inimitable Multi Dimensional mascara in Black. She also likes Bobbi Brown lip liner in Nude and Virgin Vie Solitaire Colour Collection lip and cheek colour palette

As far as skin care goes, Natalie likes to use products that are as natural, non-chemical and as organic as possible. "I cleanse, tone and moisturise and then use a non-chemical sunscreen," she says. "I have heard the best ones are the non-chemical ones that contain zinc and sit on the skin as they really offer good sun protection." As far as brands go, she says she's fond of a locally-produced range called Esse, available at Wellness Warehouse. "It's about 95 – 99-percent organic and natural and they are reasonably priced compared to other organic natural brands." She's also an Environ fan, saying she likes that the range has "high concentrations of vitamins A and E, uses mostly natural ingredients and once again they are reasonably priced."

When it comes to taking care of her hair, Natalie says she likes to stay away from 'harsh chemical products' and keeps heat styling down to a bare minimum. "I like to use organic products and am currently trying Giovanni, a range of organic hair care products from Wellness Warehouse." Then at least once a week, she'll leave her conditioner in for a good couple of hours to act as a deep moisturising treatment.

Now it's time for a few quick questions!

Got anything exciting coming up?
My new movie, Atlantis, is coming out on BBC and internationally towards the end of 2010. I star with Reece Richie who's starred in Peter Jackson's The Lovely Bones and Prince of Persia. I play the secondary lead role of Ariad.

What colour nail polishes are you rocking this summer?
I like dark red for toenails in winter and nude fingernails.

How do you take care of that hot bod?

I use Johnson's body oil, which is a more natural combination of ingredients. Also, there's a wide range of body oils available at health shops to which I always add a little bottle of rose or vanilla oil to make it smell delicious. Esse also have an amazing rich body cream with natural and organic ingredients.

What's your biggest beauty no-no?
Anything that looks like you're wearing too much make-up or have applied it badly looks awkward. Also, it's important to get the colour of your foundation right.

Quick – turf out your handbag. What beauty goods do you have stashed in there?

I travel light. Mac Studio Fix powder foundation, Mac blush and the most divine little travel size nude lip gloss you can pick up at Mr Price for about R5. It's called bm.

What perfume do you wear? Do you have a day or night scent? A special occasion scent? Tell, tell, tell!
I like the scent of my skin, freshly showered and moisturised, with just rose or vanilla scented body oil. My favourite scent so far is Narciso Rodriguez Musc for Her. It comes in a black glass bottle and is made from thousands of crushed Egyptian rose petals. It's my special occasion scent.

If we had to snoop around in your bathroom (and we sooo would given the chance), what would we find in your shower or around your bath?

Scented candles. Bath-time is my favourite time to relax, reflect and detox. You'll also find bath salts and rough sea-salt, which I bath in most nights – it cleans your aura and removes and dissolves negative energy in your energy field. Afterwards, you sleep like a baby and wake up feeling brand new and light. I stay away from most soaps which contain harsh, drying chemicals and use pure soaps made of natural ingredients like goat's milk or avocado oil that you can find at health shops.

Finally, any other beauty secrets or a last word of advice for the girls at w24.co.za?

Exercise! Whether it's walking, running, yoga, weight training, dance or any form of movement, do an exercise you enjoy. It'll keep you healthy on the inside and outside as well as glowing with health, vitality and beauty. Drink lots of water, eat healthily and use products that are as natural and chemical-free as possible. You'll be doing yourself and the planet a great service. Nothing beats health and radiance from the inside for glowing, natural beauty.
