A few weeks ago I went to the exclusive Cape Grace for a Rolling Sands Massage. My expectations and my hopes were very high – I mean it’s the Cape Grace for goodness’ sake!
A hotel that is basically synonymous with luxury, style, opulence and sumptuousness.
What I wasn’t ready for was the actual experience.
I was set to get The Rolling Sands Massage – a full body one hour treatment done with Kalahari Signature oils and dancing arm movements to mimic the wind sculpting the sand in the desert.
This all sounded a bit airy-fairy to me. As someone who sits behind a computer every day, I prefer deep pressure and clever hands and not some light feathery strokey type thing.
Boy was I wrong.
It was the best massage I have ever had. The therapist who did the treatment - Leandri Ras - is one of those rare people with a real gift for healing. She tackled my back and neck like a pro – never hurting, never stopping, always perfect.
I walked out of there feeling as if I were walking on clouds. I prepared myself for some stiffness the next day – a fair trade for being pain-free for the first time in months, but there were no ill-after effects.
Since I’ve been for my massage I’ve sent six friends and they’ve all been blown away.
Other awesome things:
• The slippers! Probably the most comfy things I’ve ever had on my feet. Think padded polar fleece shoe wear.
• Choosing your own oil from the Kalahari Signature scent oils.
• The wet area (sauna and steam room) is unisex so you can relax with your partner after your massage and even have dinner there!
Price: The massage is 60 minutes and costs R780, for more details check out their website.
