With the New
Year come new fitness fads that often fizzle out before you learn how to
pronounce them. But this year, there is a veteran making a comeback and it is
here to stay - hula hooping.
Burning up to 600 calories an hour,
it’s easy to see why hooping is twirling its way into fitness routines across
the country.
"Hula hooping exercises over 30 core
muscles in the body and improves balance, flexibility and coordination," said
Cotton On Group Health and Wellbeing trainer Leigh Masek.
Not only is hooping great for your
body, it is great for the mind too.
"Physical activities
such as hula hooping take the brain away from stressful and irritable thoughts
by forcing you to concentrate on keeping that hoop up off the ground."
Lifestyle brand Cotton On BODY has
launched a range of hula hoops in stores, after recognising the fitness pastime
has made a comeback.
Providing an alternative workout for the
Cotton On Body girl, buyer Maria Strangio said the hula hoop naturally aligned with
the lifestyle
Some beginner tips
