According to DesignTaxi.com, the UN joined forces with Christopher Hunt of Ogilvy and Mather to create awareness for gender inequality.
If you're one of those people who wonder why awareness for gender equality is needed, please don't waste our time by commenting, but rather read this article, compiled by the Discovery Channel and backed up with United Nations research.
If it's tl/dr, here's a short breakdown:
Women are still earning less then men. They are often denied the right to do proper work and if they are allowed in certain industries they face a glass ceiling. Many women are denied gender specific healthcare and 1 in 3 stand the chance to be beaten or raped.
In some countries infanticide and femicide is committed as boys are seen to be more valuable than girls. Many women across the world aren't allowed to own or inherit property. They are also not free to choose who to marry or divorce and thousands of child brides die in their marriage beds and in childbirth every year.
The cleverly conceived ads show the actual Google search results of search terms like “women need to”, “women should” and “women cannot”, showing you exactly how people across the world still think about women's rights.
Note, these are the most searched for terms, that is why Google suggests them.
Just to make sure that this was legitimate and not just a clever campaign, I quickly did my own test with the first thing that came into my mind and this is what I found. You're welcome to do your test if you don't believe me:
Scary isn’t it? Now tell me why exactly you think feminism is redundant.
*Update: Type in "women are" or "women will" and you'll see mixed results.
