In light of the recent controversy surrounding her abuse, Janay Rice has released a statement on Instagram, criticising the media and the public alike.
Since TMZ released a video in which Ray Rice is seen beating Janay unconscious, Rice has been both suspended from NFL, and his contract with the Balitmore Ravens terminated.
Janay's statement accuses the media of taking something that Rice "worked his ass off for" his whole life "just to gain ratings".
She claims that her and Ray have been hurt, embarrassed, made to feel alone, and had all their happiness taken away, but that they will continue to grow and show the world what "real love" is.
This is not the first time Janay has defended her husband's abuse.
During a press conference after the video of him dragging her unconscious body from the elevator was leaked, Janay took on partial responsibility for her own abuse my making the statement that she deeply regretted the role she played on the night of the incident.
