This year, Kia is proud to sponsor the annual cyclethon charity which helps fund HospiceWits and The Smile Foundation.
Smile Foundation is a South African NGO that assists children with any type of facial condition. It helps the child receive free corrective Plastic and Reconstructive surgery within South Africa.
Since its inception, the Smile Foundation has given over 1000 children the gift of a smile.
HospiceWits has carried the social responsibility of caring for hundreds of individuals, in Johannesburg and Soweto, who have been diagnosed with terminal illnesses.
It has also provided families in Soweto with counseling and contributes to the education and well-being of children between the ages one and six years old.
HospiceWits plans on doubling its patients and, “the support of sponsors, donors and participants in the Cyclethon goes a long way towards helping us to achieve this,” says Joy Ruwodo, marketing manager of Hospice Wits.
This year’s event will offer a unique physical challenge – The Most Kilometer challenge. The cyclist who covers the most kilometers in an hour over the 9 hour racing period will win R5 000. There will be both a male and female category.
In addition, Discovery Vitality members participating in this event will earn 500 Discovery Vitality points. This promises to be a fun-filled event with live entertainment, prizes and a chance to mingle with South Africa’s celebrities.
If you would like to participate in the cyclethon, please visit: www.melrosearch.co.za/cyclethon and make your contribution towards helping our children.
The cost of participation is R150 per bike, per hour. All proceeds will go to HospiceWits and The Smile Foundation
