Twitter thinks that video of Solange attacking Jay Z is funny

Jay- Z and Beyonce are a power couple. No doubt about it. They’re probably the most famous couple in music. Scratch that. They ARE the most famous couple in music. (Sorry John and Yoko)

So when something goes down concerning either of them, it becomes big news.

Especially something like Bey’s sister physically attacking her husband.

TMZ was the first to break the story with video footage of the incident. It, of course, went viral, and pretty soon there were memes, tweets, and Facebook statuses about it. Solange’s Wikipedia page was even edited to list ‘Jay-Z’s 100th problem’ as one of her occupations.

We’re not sure what caused the attack as there is no audio on the video, but the Twitter hashtag #WhatJayZSaidToSolange tried to answer that question for us.

This might seem like harmless fun, but the reality of assault and people’s attitudes towards it is a serious matter. There are men who suffer domestic abuse at the hands of women and while the perception remains that this is funny abused men will never have the courage or support to speak out.

So while we are pretty sure JayZ isn’t being assaulted by Solange on a regular basis, an incident like this isn’t something to joke about. Like Channel24 said: if the roles had been reversed and JayZ had punched and kicked his sister-in-law the reactions would have been very different.

These are just a few of the insensitive tweets about the incident.
