Get out and get some fresh air.

With the easing up of lockdown regulations, more options have become available for you to start moving around and to get out of the house.

While taking a break from the couch may be vital to sustain optimal wellbeing it’s also crucial as usual to keep up with social distancing, wearing a mask and sanitising.

Check out some of the fun options available for a fun day out.

Go hiking

Lace up those trainers and get some exercise on a fun hike perfect for families and friends.

If you’re in the Mother City, head up Lion’s Head for an early morning trek or an afternoon hike guaranteed to be magical.

Residents in Johannesburg can make a day of it and head to Modderfontein Reserve which is open for hiking, cycling and running from Tuesday to Sunday, 6am to 6pm.

Get your caffeine fix

As the lockdown levels have come down, many looked forward to getting their cuppa from their favourite hub.

Visit your favourite spot for a pick-me-up, a reprieve from the confines of your home or the luxury of revisiting pre-Covid memories.

 Visit a market

Markets are a big thing and exist in virtually all neighbourhoods across South Africa. Go out and get some fresh produce or some of your favourite foods from a market near you.

Mojo Market in Sea Point have opened their facilities for sit-down meals and trade from Tuesday to Sunday, 12pm to 8pm.

Oranjezicht City Farm Market is another perfect way to spend a weekend morning and is open again so pop around for some of their locally sourced produce and delicious treats.

Go green

With many places still closed, options are limited for kids. Nurseries are open, however, and offer an escape for families and an opportunity to explore what’s on offer.

Visit your local nursery to see which plants are in season or get some herbs for a fabulous kitchen grow box.

Feel the sand between your toes

Visit your nearest beach or dam for some fresh air and a little sunshine.

Lockdown may have left you feeling lethargic and listless and some time spent in the sun may be just what’s called for.

Being near water is perfect for a family who loves to feel the sand beneath their feet or enjoy ice cream from a local vendor.
