Things are getting a little toxic for the fans.
Britney Spears has enjoyed worldwide success but not without some hitches and life-changing snags along the way.
Although the megastar has amassed a fortune of more than R990 million, the terms of her conservatorship have made her unable to make financial decisions, drive a car or even leave home without permission, The Sun reports.
The star has been subject to a legal conservatorship since 2008, following her infamous 2007 breakdown.

Her father Jamie Spears is her legal guardian and as such is in direct control of her financial affairs and daily life.
The arrangement was originally brought on to protect the Toxic singer’s mental health but many of her fans believe the 38-year-old deserves to go “free”.
Following bizarre TikTok videos and cryptic Instagram posts, more than 220 000 fans have joined the #FreeBritney movement claiming the star has been sending them hidden messages on social media to signal that she’s in trouble.
The movement kickstarted in 2019, after fans became suspicious when a man claiming to be part of the stars legal team claimed her father forced her to undergo treatment at a mental health facility.
Many celebs have come out in support of the movement including the likes of Miley Cyrus and Cardi B.
“When you’re a celebrity, everyone wants to sue you, everyone wants a piece of the money you work for – and it’s so frustrating,” Cardi B said.
“Then you have the whole world looking at you, no privacy, it’s crazy. I can’t even imagine if you do it for such a long time like her.”
According to an article published in YOU in May 2019, her former manager Osama “Sam” Lutfi (44) is allegedly behind the #FreeBritney movement and has been blamed for the star’s meltdown in 2007.
At the end of 2019, YOU reported that Britney’s ex-husband Kevin Federline (41), had accused her father of getting physically violent with the former couple’s eldest son.
Jamie was slammed with a domestic violence restraining order and a temporary conservator took over from him.
Since then, Britney lost a 50-50 custody deal with Kevin and was ordered a 70-30 deal in Kevin’s favour.
Earlier this year, the couple’s youngest son, Jayden Federline (13), revealed in an Instagram Live that’s since been deleted that there’s no love lost between him and his grandfather and that he hardly sees his mother.
In a recent post on Instagram, the superstar shared an image of a pink planet in space.
“This is the Pink Planet . . . aka GJ 504b . . . the planet made of pink gas!,” Britney captioned the photo.
“It's even four times more massive than Jupiter! Can I just go here already.”
The image may just be an ode to her love of
all things pink, but some of her fans are convinced it is a signal of something
more concerning.
“I feel like every post is cryptic code for something,” one follower wrote.
“Are you ok Britney?” another asked.
The post comes just as there’s been an increase in the debate regarding the star’s continued conservatorship.

According to the Mirror, Britney’s brother Bryan Spears claimed she wanted to leave her conservatorship but it was good for her family.
“She’s always wanted to get out of [the conservatorship],” he said.
“I’m aware that fans feel like maybe she’s being confined or held against her will in some capacity, but I can't really speak for them.
“The contract has been a great thing for our family, to this point, and we keep hoping for the best.”
Fans remain unconvinced.
